This is a review of half the show on thursday, 1/16, at Toppers in eagle Rock which is directly east of Glendale (ok, so it's not OC. But how many reviews do you see up here?!) This show was a San gabriel valley bands theme. i split after the first two bands because I was very restless and didn't know anyone there and everyone else was talking and I began to feel like that lady in Carnival of Souls (SEE IT--the original film.) ALSO they had no non alcoholic brews and I had no money as i was waiting for my direct deposit.
ANYWAY=--LDS FUCKIN SHREDDED. LDS is an excellent thrashcore band, a serious band(yes I prefer the somber types), and their music was music to my ears and very much renewed my faith in the hardcore scnen. Kinda band where you don't care if it's not that loud or the sound is shitty--the anger comes through. Can't say enuff about em, a new fave of mine.
Regal Beagle didn't quite do it for me like that but they kinda grew on me after a couplka numbers. Definitely dominated by their frontman/lead giuitar wizard. They had a humor hardcore strweak in them and were fun and also pretty darn punk rock.
Toppers is small and has a great jukebox if you like classic rock (yes my hair is VERY long). Despite no nonalkies they didn't gouge me for a coke. 21+ unfortunately but with old Uncle dan's review you youngsters can feel the chemistry second hand.
Too bad i couldn't hang for Elvis Disciples and the Mormons but it's like i toldya already, dannyboy's got social problems. i was way sleepy on the way home anyway (I get up for work at 4am) so tsa good thing I drove home safe anyway. Piece out DANNYBOY PS this was a free show!!!
