Ok, today, on KROQ's Catch of the Day, Jed the Fish played "Die, Alright" by the Hives. I saw the Hives in December with The (International) Noise Conspiracy at the Glasshouse. If you have seen them live, you know that they will soon be HUGE if they are being played on KROQ. This upsets me because in the future, my chances of being able to see them live again will be small because so many people will want to see them. I'm sad, but I'm glad that they will be successful.

I know how you feel. This isn't the first time something has happened like that. Four Epitaph bands broke this way. Pennywise did, nofx, rancid, and the offspring. The offspring is one that really broke big. There smash record was played on KROQ. This helped make it the most successful independent record of all time selling over 10 million and still counting.
You shouldn't worry though. You should still be able to see them. There will just be more people. And if there true to the music they wont change. In my opinion none of the four punk bands played on KROQ, changed because of it.
I love the hives! I went to see them at the roxy a while back and did a review of it for my zine. I have some killer pics of them there to so check it out at www.deadontheweb.com at look in the show reviews section. LONG LIVE THE HIVES!!!!!!!

How do you know the videos will be on mtv? I haven't read that on epitaphs page or the bands web page? I so doubt thats true. I can believe it might be on mtv, but because mtv put it there not because the band asked for it to be there
Hey I hate MTV just as much as the next person, but when are people going to learn that just because you have a video on MTV it dosent mean you are a sell out. It usualy just means that you have a great band and people are noticing. Now, if they put a video up on MTV and totally change their sound and start wearing spandex, well, then thats another thing. And besides when was the last time you saw a full video that was on MTV that wasnt ethr hip hop or R &B? Never...thats because the good videos they either dont play or they play at 3am! Anyway, Don't you want your favorite bands to make some cash so they can keep writing music for us and not have to get new jobs and eventualy die off the face of the earth?

Ummmm, the Hives have several music videos under their belts. There is nothing new about this, except now MTV is going to allows millions to make pretend they are hard core fans and praise the Hives and look down on their other followers at shows.

I know it's completely selfish, but I don't want to share the Hives. These guys are meant to be seen in a small venue, like the Glasshouse, not the freakin' Universal Amphitheater! I already have to share so many other bands that I love, and I've never even seen them! If Longfellow were to be played on the radio or on MTV, I think I would die because they are my favorite band, and I would miss seeing them up close.

i feel the same way, sabrina. ok, maybe you think they suck, but i was into something corporate for a while. i got their cd a few days after it came out. now, i hear their songs on kroq, and i know millions of teenage girls are going to try to adopt them as some big-time pop punk band. im happy theyll make some dough, but i guess im just selfish.

OH MY FREAKIN' GOSH!
KROQ DID IT AGAIN! THEY PLAYED "Hate To Say I Told You So" by the Hives on Friday on Jed's Catch of the day. Man, I ABSOLUTELY HATE KROQ! I guess I will never see the Hives again. I think I have to go drink now.
I heard that Jed the Fish enjoys the company of small boys!

Ok, another Hives update:
Last night, I was watching "Alias", (best show EVER!), and during a scene where Sydney is doing her spy thing, they played "Hate To Say I Told You So". It was awesome and depressing at the same time. So, did I mention how awesome their stage show is? One of the best shows I've ever been to.
Thats pretty cool ya heard them on that show. I dont really watch that show but I give props to the Hives for kicking all the ass that they do. And I have to agree that they do top the list of my favorite bands to see live! Although I have to admit I think the singer thinks he is Mick Jagger sometimes but thats cool because mick rocks even in his old decreped age... And hey, so what if they are being played on TV at least its for a decent show like that and not for a taco bell comercial like voodoo glowskulls did a few years back.

Um, I'm gonna have to agree with "Unregistered". I saw VGS back in January, and they would seriously kick yo ass, foo! They, too, put on an awesome stage show. I would have gone in the pit, but I was too afraid to die!
Look people, I never said VGS sucked. I have liked them for a long time. Who else do ya know that have been a fan of them since before they had horns and they played at spanky's in riverside? Im just saying that it was pretty lame hearing their song on a cheesey taco bell comercial. Geeessssee!!! Relax!
Get a hoby or something.

It finally happened. I knew it was going to, but I was doing my best to avoid it. I heard the Hives on KROQ today. Why does KROQ have to steal the music I like? Both Hives shows are sold out now and the ticket that rightfully should have been mine is probably in the hands of some fucking jock in a Limp Bizkit shirt. What a sad sad day.

i remember that show in decemeber (or sometime way back when) with the hives and i.n.c. b/c i couldnt go. my friend sharon was there so she kept me on her cellphone the whole time so i could hear it. hahahaha...that was super kool of her. anyway, the whole hives being played on KROQ thing has its pros and cons like everyone has mentioned...but hopefully they will still play some small clubs and not "sell out"

The show in December owned everyone at the Glasshouse. I am happy for the hives new found success however it will be a shame to get chewed up and spitten out by the media. *sigh* No more glasshouse shows for 8 bucks.
