Yo homies and homegirls:
so, this message board needs some revival. I would much rather go to this message board than another one of a similar name with a similar type of music w/horns because I'm so sick of the mindless bantar on the other board, and you all know what I'm talking about.
Ok, so, here goes. What do you all think of supposed 'straight-edge' kids? I personally think that they are just as bad as all those animal rights activists and vegans. Why the f u c k do you have to rub in your view points in my face? I really don't care if you think drinking or drugs or anything else is wrong. I mean, everyone should be responsible for themselves. I just hate it when they feel that they are better because they don't do drugs or drink or smoke. Now, I'm not saying that all 'straight-edge' kids are like that. There are many that respect everyone's right to be who they want to be.

im better around sXe kids. a lot of them are really smart and make intellegent comments since they arent all stoned ,drunk or high all the time thay actually have logical and entertaining things to say.

i guess i could be considered "stright edge", but i dont think i am. i dont smoke, drink, do drugs, and i havent do the hibbitty-dibbitty, so yeah. i have friends that are stoners, though, and they're coool. i also have straight edge friends, and theyre cool. so, yeah. people can do what they want.

I think straight edge is cool. I can totally understand why people like Ian Mackaye started the movement. It was a reaction to everything rock and roll was supposed to be about - sex and drugs. And if you think about it, punk rock is supposed to be about going against the mainstream, and what's more mainstream than sex and drugs? So on a personal level I think it's fine. I wouldn't choose it though. I like smoking and the occasional drink way too much. The problem with straight edge nowadays is that a few bad apples have ruined it for everyone else. Violence and extremism have tainted it so much that even if I didn't drink or smoke I wouldn't call myself straight edge.
Kudos to rockNrollSab for trying to revive this board.

Well I look at it the same way I look at religion. If you choose to live a life constrained by superficial rules and regulations, I say fine, hey I have no problem with it. Some people need these rules so they don’t go crazy as they go through life and realize that its not all fun and games. But it's when you come to me and try to force feed your logic to me and try to get me to convert, that's when I have a problem with it. If you don’t wanna partake in drug use, alcohol, sex and other fun things in life I say good for you. I don’t go around telling other people how to live so don’t come raining on my parade when I'm trying to enjoy a cold Bud or a fat Marley.

who cares about the straight edge people. why do we even have to label them in the first place, it's rather dumb if you ask me. they're just people who choose not to poisin their minds and bodies with drugs and alcohol. and doing, or not doing, that stuff is that persons problem, not yours. so who really cares if some one is straight edge or not? saying things about straight edgers is just dumb and ignorant; they're not all the same. despite what some may think everyone is different in his/her own way. and what was that crap about animal rights activists? they're not dumb or whatever you may think they are they're just standing up for what they believe in so let them do their thing. like i said before, what people do or don't do is their problem, not yours so let them take responsibility for what they do, don't categorize it with a label.

Earpollution: the point of this post is to make controversy because nobody was talking. I don't necessarily agree with my own statements. They are just what I could think of that would make people reply. and, look it worked.
I really have no problem with 'straigh-edgers', animal right's activists, or anyone for that matter. My problem is with people who won't accept the fact that others might not agree with their lifestyle. They can do what they want. Even if they want to talk to me about their viewpoints, that's totally fine. But, if I say I like to drink, I don't want to be told how it's evil and i'm a horrible person. Same goes for me eating meat. Yes, I know how animals are treated most of the time. But, if they're already dead, I don't want to waste food.
But, by all means, keep up the chatter! Now I have a reason to check back on this site!

I know staright egde kids that are complete assholes, but the same goes for people who arent straight edge. I dont label myself as straight edge, but I guess I am. It all has to do with very personal reasons and certain events as I grew up. I have no interest in drinking, smoking, or drugs but I think its bullshit to force anyone else to act the same way. I dont like being told what to do so I'm not going to try to tell someone else what to do.

I totaly agree with you. most of the sXe kids i'v ever met are totaly anti-everything. One of the prople I would have called one of my closest friends started giving one of our other friends a hard time just b/c he SMELT like pot. He wan't high, he didn't have any one him, he didn't even smoke, but b/c he smellt like it he being an asshole.
I don't care if sXe kids are anti-drugs/drinking/smoking, but they don't have to force it on us, and they don't have to hold it agenst people who enjoy doing those things.

sXe.. aah the on going arguments haha. i think they're cool.. if they don't just go preaching on & on about it (but that could be said about anything really). i don't smoke, drink, do drugs, blah blah but i think if i had the chance i would do some of that shit.. i don't consider myself sXe. i'm pretty sheltered (i live in irvine.. 'nough said) & i can't really do much. the sXe kids i've met are pretty cool.. well most of them anyway. ya.. i'll shut up now.

Theyd always go up to me and start shit with me cuz theyve seen me smoking after school and stuff.. it really pisses me off...
Theyd also walk around me yelling "punk is dead" ... which i do not agree with ...
But they were total fucking bullies...
so for that now i get weird around some sXe kids...

Fuck, i cant whait to get out of highschool. Lucky for me their is no sXe kids at my HS anymore(I go to Santiago, in Garden Grove). They all graduated, and im gald for it. They never told me punk is dead, but they did tell me to go fuck myself with my smokes, I told them i didn't understand.

Everyone knows Santiago is a shit hole. Graduating was the best thing that happened to me in the 4 years I was there.

yes the whole original idea behind straight edge is commendable but its gotten way out og hand like most things do and now straight edgers dont even know why they are straight edge.

I think using sXe to identify yourself is the same as people who use drugs to identify themselves. Its fine to not want to do drugs but not because it makes you feel better than other people which has been my experience with people who claim "straightedge". I also have seen many people who were sXe in high school join a frat and be raging alcoholics. I guess it just says to me people use it to label themselves. But it goes the other way too with drugs.
you know, i've never met a straight edge kid. at least, if i did they never forced anything about it on me, or even hinted that they were. personally, i drink. i dont do drugs. i used to be uncomfortable around people i knew doin drugs, and i dont mean simply smokin. that never really bothered me. but to each his own. i've never met a vegan either.. hah...
and punk isnt dead in some people, the scene is all fucked up though...

i dont see the point in taking drugs. how does it seriously help you? it doesnt. any person wtih some sort of logic and education knows that drugs are just a way to mess yourself up. people who do drugs need to find a hobby. or something better to do.
alcohol is one of the most damaging things people can do to their body, it kills brains cells and damages liver tissue.. so why do people drink?.. your answer is the same reason people do drugs.. now, i'm not sayin whether its right or wrong and whether people should do it.. thats for you to decide for Yourself...but the same reason people do practically everything, is the same reason they do drugs.. they enjoy doin them.. and that outweighs the repercussions.. the world is a funny place, and to prove so.. i redirect your attention to hot dogs.. packages of 8.. and hot dog buns.. packages of 10.. funny place..

yeah well what ever sxe kids who cares my problem is that you think animal rights activists and vegans are trying to force you to belive in something im a animal rights activist of sorts as well as a vege and its not that we force shit on you its that most people wont open there eyes to the idea that animals fell just like humans pain anger fear and sorrow maybe if people were not so closed minded maybe we wouldnt have to be so "forceful" as you call it and we could just explain whats going on and our opinion with out have to go to such extremes.

i'm gonna have to go with conflict84 on this one, i'm a vegan and i don't hassle people TOO much, but some times they just say stupid things so i do (man if one more person tells me to go eat some meat i'm gonna chop off their arm and eat it). I do cause the ocational seen when my friends drag me into fast food places, but thats just all in good fun. but if you think about it you shove your meat eating ways down my throat constantly, do you not watch tv? they're a beef comersial every 30 seconds so mabye you should think before you speak.......um well type. And just because i'm a vege doesn't mean i wont go get piss drunk with you. And don't bitch about the SXE kids. So what if they bitch at you who cares? But i hate the ones that get violent over it, violence never solves anything.

i dunno if im a little late on this thred ( theres to many replies and i dont feel like reading em all, but i think that sXe is a fucking cult. for one thing, it is a cult, and another thing, its a FASHION.where i live all the people at my HS are lame ass wannabe fuckin sxe. im down with the old school sxe like minor threat and government issue, but these kids are fuckin lame. they got there homo style and they all wear the same thing.and dye there hair the same color, and dress with the same shoes, its crazy. by the way i go to Aliso Niguel HS ( fuckin lame ass school) and its just a fashion there. i mean, some of em were total stoners last year and this year they were like Hardcore sxe. AND the funny thing is, they dont even belive iin the whole vegan, A.L, and shit like that. all they do is dress like it to get chicks and look cool. I also notice, all the "cool" popular kids are all SxE....
