if you want theatrics, find some glam, death, metal band. theres no room for theatrics in punk unless you've been watching lots of SLC Punk or listening to alot of Christian Death (rik agnew). who cares what you look like. if your music is good people will listen. i can tell you watch lots of mtv or much music because every single band thats out right now is all about fashion, salon haircuts, tight jeans. listen, mtv isn't what you should live your life by and i know you do, theres nothing you could say in a reply to me thats going to change my mind, and if ayone else has something to say to the bassist of "SEVER" about what he's written on our post. stand up and help this young lost man who has forgotten the way.

listen to you. performance art? (in my opinion) performance art is for lame college students who can't really play their instruments so they try to make up for it by making ASSHOLES of themselfs. and as for getting out of orange county i would never leave. if it wasn't for bands like tsol or chritian death who came out of orange county, you would never have had your precious "performance art". where do you think alot of it came from dick. misfits and balzak are a very small part of that scene. PUNK: came at a time of struggle for teens in the late 70's early 80's. it was about speaking out about those struggles and sharing that with people like themselfs. now to be honest, i think punk is something you take for yourself and make it a soapbox for whats in your heart. saying what you want, doing you want. ok, i just think that performance art has no place in punk. what did bands like misfits really have to say that was meaningful. Performance art isnt everything, but it IS what takes a band from good to fucking unbelievable. Its that art and that stage presence that makes people want to see these bands live. Since when is it "unpunk" to get the crowd excited about what you're doing? Who the fuck wants to go watch a bunch of normal looking guys play music, that pretty much sounds like every other punk band out there anyway, while watching them stand still like freakin zombies? Punk died?
The first punk band? That is all opinion based. There are some real assholes out there. All this guy was trying to do is find some band members. Why attack him for that. I agree that fashion should have nothing to do with punk, but let the guy do what he wants. Punk is doing what you feel like, and not caring what others think. Theatrics and punk- it has been done, and I do disagree with it, but I am not going to attack some one because they like this or that style of music. As far as being better stage performers if you dress up in stupid shit, that is nonsense. I have seen many bands that do this, and I have always thought that their costumes have ruined their act. Napalm Death for example, although they are not really punk, put on one of the most intense, exciting, fun to watch shows I have ever seen, and no one really moves except for the singer. The music has gotta be good no matter what. You can't cover up bad music with a stupid costume, or a severed doll head or whatever. If the music is there, then do what ever you want to make the show more interesting. Start a band for you, not for other people.
