Ultimate Fakebook at Chain Reaction in Anaheim, CA on 4/5/02:

I didn't go in until the boys were up, so I missed all the opening bands, but I'm sure they were good.

So, I was up front, prepared to be totally rocked out. I talked to Nick and I asked him if they were gonna play "Diamond Ring" for me. He said they tried to re-learn it, but they will definately play it for me next time. Then, I asked if it were possible for them to play "Downstairs/Arena Rock" (my other favorite song) and he said 'it's possible."

So, the boys set up the rock box and were prepared to rock out. They opened up the set with "Wrestling Leap Year" followed by "The Scheme to Listen No More." Unfortunately, there was some distortion on Bill's guitar, so the sound wasn't as great as it could have been. But, the crowd didn't seem to mind at all. Next was "All the New Poisons."

"Tell Me What You Want" totally rocked. The crowd wasn't too big, but they were into it. "Soaked in Cinnamon" was played next, and the boys totally blew my mind, great performance! It was again time for a new song, so "Inside Me, Inside You" was played next. "Goddamn Dance Craze" was after that.

"She Don't Even Know My Name" was awesome because the whole crowd got into it and sang along. "Catch the Beat" was next. I did not expect the boys to play this song, but it was so great that they did! "Valentines" was ok, I'm not too big a fan of that one.

Ok, so here's a complaint: "A Million Hearts" was played a little too fast. I know Bill said afterward that the crowd prefers the faster stuff, but, comon, some of us like the slow songs to stay slow. But, it still made me smile. :-*

Next, was a request to play "Far, Far Away,", so the guys complied and it made for some awesome dancing in the crowd! "When I'm With You, I'm Ok" was so much fun to see live! I'm glad I was upfront to see all the awesome stage antics of Bill and Nick. Eric was great too, but, you know, drummers can't jump on stage and stuff.

"Brokyn Needle" was also good. They played a song I had never heard, I believe it was called "He's A Whore." It was good, I liked it a lot. The guys closed the evening with "Little Apple Girl," which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and I danced a lot to it.

I met Nick and Bill (bass and guitar/singer) and they are the nicest guys I have ever met. I suggest you check these guys out next time they're around, maybe in the fall.
