View Full Version : Is he punk?
You might have seen the commercial about "parents: the anti-drug" where this supposedly punk kid comes downstairs. So this guy was dressed all in black with some chains and had piercings and dyed hair tied in a pony tail. Then his mom looks at his punk ways and says who are you going with, to be home by so and so time, etc. Then a voice says: "Let your kids be who they are, but know what they are doing."
Is this an accurate portrayal of punk? Especially the music in the bkground?(What song? if anyone knows) Would he be punk when they showed him happy living in that affluent two-story home with a loving mom?

Your appearance doesn't make you punk. Your home doesn't make you not punk. How you live doesn't make you not punk. listening to certain bands don't make you punk. Happy doesn't make you punk, sad doesn't make you punk. Not to mention.............................................. CRITIQUING WHAT PUNK IS DOES NOT MAKE YOU PUNK SO GIVE IT UP YOU FUCKING POSER!
I agree, the ppl behind that anti-drug ad should stop critiquing the punk that most ppl have come to know. It's like they're assuming most punks do drugs. I don't even think punk exist, so they shouldn't claim he is one by making most ppl categorize him as punk. Yeah they're just making him look like he's a poser, if there is such a person.

Question.. What the fuck is your problem with me? You, along with alot of others, have said shit like this before. It's getting fucking annoying. It's like you're saying a positive thing with total negativity. I did nothing to you, so funk off.

i don't think that that was the point of the commercial... i think it was to help people disregard common misunderstandings and judgements... just because you look a certain way doesn't mean you are on drugs, or anything else for that matter, as many uninformed people think...
as for being a punk in a loving family... well, you dont have to grow up in crappy conditions... it doesn't matter what financial status you have or your family conditions are as long as you are true to yourself and the scene...
