First off, Avis I know you were gonna post the first review. I was tired of waiting though. You can post next.
Okay it started off shitty. I had to go pick up Rob(Avis), then Jade.
I got to Robert's house late because of some fucked up traffic on the 91. When he and I finally got back on the 91 it was like a parking lot. So we entertained ourselves by yelling at people and laughing at a guy on a motorcycle. Once it started moving after about a half hour, it wasn't too bad. Then a truck full of girls was yelling and waving at us. So we just smiled and acted like idiots. Ok then we get to Jades. We sit and wait. Finally we are able to leave there. It is 7 already. That's when the doors open. When we finally get there it looks like a movie. Punks everywhere!!! It was cool as fuck. All over the streets, hanging out, smoking, drinking. Like I said, cool as fuck. Parking was $10(bullshit). So were in. After jade buys her ticket we have to get searched. I'm a moron and pulled my cigarettes out. You weren't allowed to bring them in. So nearly a full pack was lost. Ok enough of this shit, onto the music.
We missed New York Rel-X, and I think there was another band before but their name slips my mind.
So first band we see was Total Chaos, and I must say I was impressed. The singer was fucking great. I really liked their set. It was full of raw energy. I wasn't allowed to leave Jade( :( ), so we stayed back a little. The smell of weed was prevelant.
Next was DISCHARGE!!!! This is by far one of my favorite bands, so of course I loved it. I believe Ratt from the Varukers was on vocals but of course I'm not sure. Either way he did an awesome job. They sounded great. Songs I will soon not forget were of course Fight Back, Decontrol and I Ain't No Feeble Bastard. The crowd was amped. I had the worst time holding myself back. I wanted to rush into the sea of people like a rabid dog, but I held back. Something pretty rare happened too. On Discharge's last song I believe it was, Wattie came running out to join him on vocals. It was really cool to see. The sight of him running out onto stage directly to the microphone will be ingrained into my memory forever. Very cool site.
Next was The Adicts! Again, definetly one of my favorite bands. They were by far the highlite of the night. They always are. They stole the damn show. Of course they entered the stage to the Clockwork Orange theme. That is by far one of my favorite parts of the show. The minute the first note to Ode To Joy was played I was gone. A pit began very close to where we were, and an opening was made. I was in there faster than a hooker on dick. I was gone. I disapeared for their entire set. They played all the greats. Steamroller, Joker In The Pack, Bad Boy, Numbers, Viva La Revolution, How Sad, Chinese Takeaway, Easy Way Out, Just Like Me, Straight Jacket, and I'm sure a few I've forgotten. Those aren't in any particular order either. Like I said these guys stole the show. No one performs like them, and I don't think anyone ever will. The energy is amazing.
Last but not least was The Exploited. I wasn't too excited to see them. Don't get me wrong, I like them in general. Enjoy a few song's, but I just wasn't too into it. We came in after they had already started, and after I drank two bottles of water since I was literally soaking wet. Get's a little warm in there ya know?
Anyway, they sounded good. Wattie was all over the place. Still good performers. When we came in they were playing Sex And Violence. So people were getting into that. We decided to check out the merch stands. I bought a patch and a sticker since I left my wallet in my truck(avoiding what happened last time). We left probably in the middle of their set. I wasn't too into it, and Jade was bitching that she was tired( ). As we were exiting they were playing I Believe In Anarchy.
So anyway, this was maybe the coolest show I've ever been to. Just because of the size and atmosphere. It was amazing and probably something we won't soon get to experience again. Maybe in a year since this is annual. Who knows. Either way, it was a great time, and definetly worth my $25.
P.S. Thanks Jade for letting my know you had a fucking camera like 3/4 of the way through the show!!!!
