If anyone missed the Halloween show, well I'm sorry. Thrice was amazing. They dressed as the skeletons from Karate Kid( a nice Halloween effect). Thursday played a lot of their new material, but nothing is better than the Full Collapse album. Anyone go?

no, sorry. i was too busy tossing off to the new jealous sound record.
i hear coheed was the best. and i hear thrice sucked the biggest balls of all. people i know left because they sucked so bad.
oh, and thrice and thursday suck in my opinion, and them and coheed dont belong here on this forum. they are not in the punk scene.

well, if you had an understanding of music you might know that those bands have influences from punk bands. Peace

actually...if you had an understanding of music youd understand that they are not punk bands at all...punk influenced? by what?...hmm and even if they did have punk influence, it wouldnt mean theyre punk...
theyre musicians and i respect what they do, but sorry bro, theyre not punk

Thank you.
Thrice doesnt even sound punk influenced, and they are nothing close to punk. Thursday is not punk, even if they are influenced at all, and i have never heard Coheed, so I won't insult them.

You all make me laugh. Have you any understanding of what punk is? No, Thrice, Coheed and Thursday are not punk, but neither is Good Charlotte, but somehow they seem to be a popular topic. Maybe because you feel it is cool to talk ish about a band that you clearly know is punk, because any other band you couldn't tell the difference. Sure you could name all ones you've heard other people mention, but have you listened to anything that wasn't dictated to you? Peace

i pick up shit myself all the time. the radio dictates the shit to you, so dont give me that crap either. I have gone to record stores and grabbed cds and comps that sounded interesting to me.
and did i say anything bad about coheed? no. be glad i didnt. I was giving my OPINIONS. sheesh. fuck off.

I don't listen to the radio, and congrats on your trips to the record store, I'm sure we listen to some of the same music, though I do not feel in need to be glad that you spared me your opinion of Coheed. The best part of music I feel is the lyrics. That is why my favorite band is Alkaline Trio and has been for years. Thirce and Thursday also have amazing lyrics. And save your ignorant f-off coment for someone else. Cussing only makes one sound ignorant, and is not a good way to get a point across. Peace

actually, cursing shows a lack of an ability to communicate. I have the ability to communicate, I just choose to use such words.
I like lyrics alot, and I always will. it seems that most lyrics I hear have to do with my life or someone who connects to my life. But when music gets in the way of lyrics... bleh, I cant usually stand it. and when the voice of the guy spouting such lyrics isnt good enough for me, I usually dont listen to it.

Good point, but a band like From Autumn to Ashes has great lyrics, though it can be hard to listen to.

the bands that you listen to are good at what they do and the kind of music they play and the kind of stuff they sing about...
but none of the bands you listen to are punk or play punk music...theyre more like kinda emo...nothing against them still, but just realize that sir norcalkid

I grew up listening and going to see AfI and Rancid in San Francisco. I've seen all of the Rancid side projects ( Lars, Transplants etc). ALkaline Trio is indie punk, not emo, Thrice is post-hardcore, not emo. I know what punk is, I grew up in the punk hotbed ( East Bay Northern California). Peace

You know what punk is because you grew up in the punk hot bed East Bay Northern California? what the hell? Thats the stupidest thing I have ever heard NorCalKid.
Dude, get a life, if it doenst sound like The Misfits, The Vandals, Dead Kennedys, Sex Pistols, or Bad Religion then its not punk.
Thrice, Thursday, Alkaline Trio are all not punk. If it has some stupid genre label like inde-punk or post hard core then its not punk.
Correct me if im wrong but East Bay Northern California is Oakland. Yeah Rancid has some origins there but in no way is it a "hot bed of punk".
Put the MeanStreat down and stop being such a poser. Educate yourself on what punk is before feeding your bullshit to people who really want to listen and learn about punk.

you just don't believe in it's existence. and I can tell you that it does exist... and I know of things, and experienced things that you don't believe in that would turn you into a curled up crying mess of a little boy.
the ramones don't sound like the sex pistols, the misfits, bad religion or any of those bands listed... so they aren't punk? Wait a minute...
punk didn't originate in england. It originated in NYC in a garage where a small amount of testosterone, and guys from across the globe formed a small time band called the ramones. They released their first record, then toured in england, which brought about all the "punk" crap from england. Some record execs decided to find some kids who "looked 'punk'" and then the sex pistols were formed, and a shitty band at that, in my opinion. the first "punk" boy-band, in the lamest respect of it all. the Dickies signed on to the same label as the sex pistols, of their own accord. They are, seemingly, the longest surviving punk band. And if you don't believe my story, I could find you proof. So, just take it like it is, because you are smacked down either way.

Yes Avis the all mighty Ramones began punk and they should be worshiped accordingly.
Punk music may have started in New York but it spread quickly. It spread because people had the punk attitude in them and the music brought them together, it gave all these people with a common look on life something they could relate to. It became a way of life.
I never said Punk originated in Engald or not in New York. I was mearly stating that East Bay Northern Califronia is in no way a Hot Bed of Punk.
Avis, get over yourself. pay attention to what I am saying before going on your rants.
You have seen things that would make me cry, dont make me laugh. Why dont you acutaly tell us about these expereinces.

The problem is... nobody would believe me. Except maybe my wiccan friends... and my friends with the second sight. You have too petty a mind.
The sex pistols thing was in relation to another unregistered a page back. I wasn't talking directly to you. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn't feel like quoting it.

"punk is dead" is what i constantly hear. well, if your always talking about it, even if your talking about whether its dead or not, then it obviously isnt. YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT IT!!!! many of us like to listen to punk. it may be not popular but surely aint dead.
if your not popular, are you dead?

Yeah see, I wouldn't take any "punk" advice or anything else from a dumb teenage kid (Avis) who didn't even grow up back in the day. And as far as punk rock starting in So Cal, and NorCal not having a real punk scene, whoever said this is fucking dumb! What about Dead Kennedy's, MDC, Econochrist, Crucifix? The OC scene is being suffocated by skinheads who think punk is cool, and like to go to the shows to ruin them. OC's true punk scene is dead, and just full of a bunch of dumb Nazi's. I mean, I love bands like The Adolescents, and shit like that, but I don't want to go see them if there are going to be a bunch of stupid Nazi's, which most of their shows consist of. I feel bad for OC bands that are good like this, because most are playing in front of crowds that they don't like, and even worse, are gaining fans that believe in this bull shit.

B: I never said I was punk. Therefore your first comment is null and void.
C: Who said I was dumb?
D: WHo cares if I didn't grow up back in the day? Age is shit. You knew it when you were my age, so don't pull age as rank. Don't wave your finger at me like the rest of society. You need to open up your eyes and remember how you were when you were my age. 17 is hard enough without shitheads that think like you do. AGE IS SHIT. It's all about Life Experience.
F: There is no A, and there be no E.
G: There is no G.
