hey:
i fronted a band from lexington, ky called "star strangled bastards" from 1993-1996. we put out a 7" and toured around a bit, we were written up in MRR and a couple of other mags in 1994 (95?). the MRR review said something to the effect that it was obvious we were way too subliminally influenced by J Church. i still have no friggin idea who that is. smelly/stinky mustafa put us in his top 10, so we were redeemed to some degree.
i thought of the name in traffic on a hot august day and took solace at the time that no one else would be deranged enough to come up with it on their own organically. what the hell.
if anyone is interested in hearing the original SSB, drop me an e-mail at: magonbrain@hotmail.com and i can send you a record for 5 bucks (postage included). i still have a bunch of 7" left and have run out of uses for them as i only need so many coasters, frisbees, and pizza-cutters. it is not that its a bad 7", it is just that i have no use for 300 of them. rock on...
