So, I went to shoe city today to buy some new converse low top maroon. I haven't bought chucks in 3 years, I love my chucks! They can tell you stories about all the crazy things I've done, the places I've been, the stuff I've stepped in, all the fun shows I've been to.
I digress. So, I ask the guy for maroon converse low tops. None. Just 'american flag, hot pink, suede, bla bla bla.' And, the price was freakin' $30! I went to the mall, and they were $40! I remember when I could buy them for $19!
Anyway, I didn't buy them. There was no way I was gonna pay so much for shoes. I can always duct tape the holes in my old chucks.
I ended up going to Payless and I bought 2 pairs of shoes for $24! It was sweet! And, then I went to a thrift store, and I bought 2 skirts, 2 belts, a make-up bag, and a black sweater, and all for $10.
So, the moral of the story is, why pay more, when you can pay-less? Haha, no, jk. But, seriously, it's ridiculous to pay so much for converse.

oh i know! i can soo agree with you sabrina! i have had my converse forever and they have such big holes that i cant practically wear them anymore....and yeah but like i want jack purcells converse...but they are like 25 dollars...and at this moment i only have about 5 dollars...and yes thrift stores rule! people should just shop there more and stop being so ignorant just cuz they bought something that wasnt at tillys or something.......everything people buy these days HAVE to be from the "cool" stores...it makes me sick cuz everything is soo expensive.......

swap meet in ceretos, chucks- 20 bucks.. and you get that nifty black bag.
Converse... overpriced... mostly because they were made popular... why I plan on getting long boots... last longer and in the long run are cheaper... not to mention heavier, so if I ever do switch back to converse, I'll be back up to my old running speed, if not faster.... but enough about that...
Thrift stores are just full of dirty old shit that people got rid of because of certain reasons... I don't need to shop at thrift stores... I still have all my old clothing and shit. Why do I need to buy someone elses? Seems like thrift stores are becoming the big thing nowadays... Yet another trend to watch people follow. I also have a grudge against thrift stores because when 21st century comics shut down it was changed into an Ardvark's vintage clothing store... aka thrift store... damn place. Thrift stores are just full of shit that no one else wanted that people buy to be cool by making their own fashion statements... it makes you just as bad as the other people following all the trends trying to be cool... it's really sad....

oh, hey by the way...
if anyone is still a fan of Dr. Marten's boots and the sort (remember those!) there is a dude in the Santa Fe Springs Swap Meet selling all kinds of Doc's for a cool price of $ 40 dollars, flat. Everything from 8-12-24 holes! They are not Dr. Martians or Doc Martin or fake shit like that...I saw them and they are coolio little docs. I bought myself some simple black 8 holes to kick your ass with... JUST KIDDING! Anyhow, the swap meet sells chucks and docs cheap...just make sure who you buy them from 'cause their are alot of rip offs.
Hope this help all of you shopaholics :D

Hey Avis!
they have a wide variety of them there. He is somewhere in the middle of the swap meet, somewhat hidden, but no where near the barrio-gone-wild beer guzzling-WAR listening cafeteria :D
I saw all types, shapes and colors of boots...you may have to check it out to be sure!
Hope this helps!

I dont like thrift stores because of what happened to my favorite comic shop.... it got replaced by one... not to mention the clothes are really dumb looking, in my opinion at least.

LOL!!!
Dude! The Santa Fe Springs one is the only swap meet I have been to that serves beer! LOL!!! Hey, I'm used to all kinds of folk and coming from a "mexican-american" background I'm used to living and being around all kinds, rather, with the pochos, the hardcore 'tejanos', the people in between and the sort. BUT I have never been to ONE swap meet, other than Santa Fe Swap meet where it looks like one god damn lowrider car show, even the music and the old cholos! :D LOL!! So I go there and, granted, there are women with tats up the ying yang on the breasts and shit but DAMN they stare at me like I just came from the planet Venus! (cause I'm a girl and not from Mars:D) You think it's the sleeves? LOL...probably so...it's not on my breast like the latter tend to be! ANYHOO, I haven't been to the Pico Swap meet since I was a little chick so I wouldn't know but the Santa Fe one...that is an experience!! So yeah, that's my experience with it! :-)

i remember when vans and chucks were incredibly reasonable in prices and this was way before all the so called "fat skater" shoes were even in
I prefer my old school vans and chucks over any other fucking shoe
